Welcome
Angela Wiggins is a contemporary Anishinaabe visual artist working between symbolic tradition and contemporary abstraction to explore Indigenous continuity, intergenerational memory, and the politics of visibility.
(The Ghost Warrior Society has authenticated me as bloodline granddaughter of Henry Rufus Trudeau great granddaughter of Gabriel Trudeau and Victoria Pelltier of Wikwemikong First Nation through my mother Mary L Trudeau.)
I create from a place where two worlds meet.
One is carried in my Indigenous blood.
The other in the land and families that raised me.
Both are real.
Both are sacred.
Neither is negotiable.
My work is shaped by the truth of living between histories. Of listening to the land. Of carrying stories that were nearly lost and voices that are rising again.
Every piece carries memory, resilience, and the living pulse of ancestry.
This is art made to bear witness.
Hands, spirits, animals, and energy move through my work as messengers.
They speak for what was silenced.
They carry what survived.
They remind us that Indigenous presence is not something of the past.
It is here. It is breathing. It is alive.
Through colour, movement, and layered symbolism, I explore what it means to exist in more than one truth at once.
To honor heritage without being confined by it.
To belong to more than one story without being forced to choose.
This is Two-Eyed seeing.
This is remembrance.
This is resistance through beauty.
You are invited to step inside.
To feel.
To remember.
To see with both eyes open.
